I think for all decades that are albums all "must hear" albums on these top ten lists (it's hard to take opinion on popular music if you all have heard these albums fully someone's seriously.) But due to the special ground-breaking and influential status of so many of the 1960s years albums, I think I should extend the list to 20 for the 1960s.
# 11 The Beatles - rubber soul (1965)
# 12 The Doors - the doors (1967)
# 13 The beach boys - pet sounds (1966)
# 14 Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (1968)
# 15 Leonard Cohen - songs of Leonard Cohen (1967)
# 16 The kinks - the kinks are the village green preservation society (1968)
# 17 The Velvet Underground - the Velvet Underground (1969)
# 18 Led Zeppelin - led Zeppelin (1969)
# 19 Love - forever changes (1967)
# 20 The Beatles - magical mystery tour (1967)
The rolling stones (Let it bleed is at # 21), Pink Floyd (Piper at of dawn is the gates at # 32), The Band (the band is at # 35), and The Who (Tommy is at # 51) seem remarkable in your absence and I think, are all "must hear" artists from the 1960s.
Frank Zappa, Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Byrds should be on the list.
