Beatles legend John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City 30 years ago today by a crazy lunatic named not deserve.
John Lennon's will I RateYourMusic.com's (yes I am addicted to this site still,) share perspective on each at any of his solo albums (Lennon Signature Box has all) today to celebrate life
Highest rated Lennon solo albums
#1 John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band (1970)
I agree with the RYM consensus. I think this is Lennon's best solo album. There are some great stuff throughout his career, but it seems like this debut solo album was the last time he really pushes the creative envelope 100% was.
#2 Imagine (1971)
Agreed again. And Yes, this album is more than just the first / title track. This is really a strong album throughout. It is not as powerful as Plastic Ono Band to me, but it is probably easier to get for the average person.
#3 Walls and bridges (1974)
I advise walls and bridges and mind games about the same. I'm not sure that the one I like more. You are both a bit underestimated I think you have some excellent songs. Said; She say kind of in a way.
#4 Double fantasy (1980)
John's tracks on this album are very good (if a bit too polished), but as an album, it's not so great because Yoko's tracks definitely an acquired taste. Clear I'm no hater Yoko. I find quite disgusting it, how, how people treat you. I really really like you and I think some of their music is quite interesting in a way. But I must admit I rarely enjoy to listen to your recordings.
#5 Mind games (1973)
#6 Rock N Roll (1975)
This covers album interest me much, although I quite like his version of "Stand By Me"
#7 Milk and honey (1984)
I heard this for the first time came the Lennon Signature Box from this fall. I have not really made a full opinion on it. It has some good Lennon songs but as double fantasy it is violated by it the involvement of so many songs in Yoko (although it is called a Yoko song "Let me count the ways", I think is pretty nice.)
#8 At some point in New York City (1972)
I heard this in its entirety for the first time as part of the Lennon Signature Box. I think I agree the average RYM with assessing user. Definitely not John his best.
