"Hold me tight"-the Beatles

By Marvin marks on Jul 5, 2010 in song reviews

It was almost two months, but I'm finally picking up to the next entry in my series about the original Beatles songs."" Hold me tight ", # 9 in the series.""Miserable" was # 8.

This song was one of the earliest originals of the band, as it had been a part of their live act of 1961 (and remained a part of it by ' 63.)13 Takes on February 1963 (along with most other songs, which landed on please please me) recorded was, but was scrapped and on their debut album. It was recorded Beatles on 12 September 1963 for their second album with the.

It is, although not among the biggest songs of the band I agree's with Ian MacDonald opinion in revolution in the head, it's actually quite a bit better than most (including Lennon & McCartney) you credit for type.It has great power.

Musical analysis

It is a pretty straight forward rocker in 4 / 4 in the key of f.Der verse composed mostly of the I-IV-V chords (F-B-C) with a G7 (a major version II) as the Ausnahme.Die bridge contains a minor IV chord (BBM) and an II chord (GM) with an AB (a flat III.)

There are two main elements that this song for me is unforgettable first to drippers repeated bass guitar riff (the same reef is the lead guitar and bass guitar played.)The second is the call and response form the vocals.

If you're interested in more musical analysis of Beatles songs the check books out Beatles as a musician.

I should also note that I have read that this song from his original key e f, accelerated during mastering but this seems to be, not something that everyone on is so I don't really explain it as a fact kann.Obwohl me that makes sense this song would in F, rather than E (E is a much more "rock n roll" kind of key for a song that is based on guitar riffs like this one.)

What the Beatles on it said

McCartney: "as we for the first time it was all singles and we were always try, this two 30 second songs minute singles why get many to write; all the same length herauskam.Hold me tight was a failed attempt at a single, which then became an acceptable album filler."

Lennon: "the Pauls.vielleicht was I stuck some bits there - I remember nicht.Es was a pretty bad song and I was never really interested either way."

Mono vs. stereo

The stereo version is a bit awkward with the vocals on the right and the drums/guitar/bass on the left side, but that more said in stereo the song sounds "alive" to me, if it is mono counterpart in Vergleich.Auf of the other hand, if you the mono version in turn then it pretty solid rock.I think both of worth a list (the Beatles stereo box set and the Beatles Mono-box-set) be

Songwriting

McCartney was the principle songwriter which this one (how much input from Lennon is really known.)
